To be successful with your engagement strategy, you need to set goals and track how well you are doing. This will help you see if you are meeting your strategy, so you can adjust as needed. Having goal is also a key to moving forward with purpose, not aimlessly.
Live Assist for Dynamics 365 (LAD365) allows you to set a goal for each campaign. It then helps you to track how well your campaign is doing and understand the value of that campaign to your business.
In in this article, you will learn how to set these goals, and how to report on them.
Decide on your goal
You first need to decide what your goal will be. For example, is it to sell a product or service? Generate leads? Increase page views? All of these are goals that you can set and customize in LAD365.
Once you have set your goal, you can track progress towards it in the data bar or the analytics builder.
How to set a goal
You can set a goal on each campaign, using the Campaign Builder in the Engagement Portal.
- Log in to the Engagement Portal.
- From the left navigation bar, go to Engage and then Campaign Builder.
- Open the campaign for which you want to set a goal or create a new campaign if desired.
- Click the + Add Goal button. A library page will open with any existing goals. If you do not want to reuse an existing goal, click the + Add new button.
- If you selected an existing goal, the "edit goal" dialog will appear. If you chose to add a new goal, the "new goal" dialog will appear.
- Enter the name of the goal, choose the goal type, and then click Save. The goal will be added to your goal library.
- Click Done to finish.
- After you have added the goal to your campaign, define the target audience and the conditions to track for that audience. (Learn how.) Then define your target visitor devices, if needed. (Learn how.)
What Kind of Goals Can I Choose From?
In LAD365, we have five different goal types to choose from. These are: (1) Sell product/service, (2) Generate leads, (3) Service activity complete, (4) Increase page views, and (5) others (which enables you to define your goal type).
Let's consider a sample use case for three of these goals, so you can see their application.
1. Sell product/service
Use case: Max's Diamond Jewely
Max is the owner of an online chain of stores that sells diamond jewelry. His business goal before the holidays is to sell the high-margin pieces (those that sell for over $10,000) that don’t move well during the rest of the season.
In LAD365, Max selects a Sales goal from the Goal Library. He sets the Sell Product / Service goal to transactions over $10,000. In this way, he can measure the success of this campaign. Every time a sale over $10,000 is made, LAD365 will display +1 in Conversions. Max will then know if the strategy of his campaign is effective.

2. Service Activity complete
Use case: Great Bank
Julia manages a banking mobile app at Great Bank. She is setting up a campaign that will measure the number of times users complete the online journey required to apply for a gold credit card. Each time a user completes this journey, the conversion will display +1 in the data bar.
Julia chooses the Service Activity complete goal type, since it matches the user's journey. She names the goal "Apply for a gold card" so to make it clear what she is measuring.

3. Generate Leads goal
Use case: Learflights
Alex is the Marketing Director at Learflights. He wants to generate leads by inviting potential customers to sign up for a monthly newsletter that will include attractive travel deals. Alex chooses the Generate Leads goal type. Each time a new user signs up for the newsletter, the user is directed to a "thank you page" which causes the conversion will display +1 in the data bar.
